Values

  • Inclisivity

My doula work is founded on intersectional feminism. This leads me to provide care for many different people with different identities & backgrounds. I make sure to include the wholeness of the person in the work that I do by centering and uplifting folks that are often ignored or dismissed in medical healthcare settings.

  • Holistic

Looking at the transition of a birthing person or woman during birth & postpartum, I often try to encompass a holistic approach. This means that I not only look at the body but also look at the general well-being of the person’s mind, emotions, feelings, experience, and state of the soul during pregnancy, birth & postpartum.

  • Compassionate

I practice compassionate communication and active listening when working with my clients. This allows me to have a heart-centered approach when working together. This is possible by creating a space for where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences in a non-judgemental approach.

  • Culturally Humble

As a doula, I understand that it is necessary to reflect back to individuals the aspects of their identities that are most important to them. This involves understanding that we all see the world through different lenses, informed by our cultures, heritage, language and experiences while keeping in mind that their experiences may differ from my own

  • Community

The saying “it takes a village to raise a child” is not far from the truth. I believe that we are not meant to raise families in solitude or isolation but in community, togetherness & with adequate support. I strongly believe in community & it is one of the pillars of my doula work. When working with clients, I look to bring in their existing community from their personal life or I try to bring in existing communities to them.

  • Pro Choice

As a full-spectrum doula, I try my best to provide evidence-based information to my clients to help them make informed choices & decisions. I support the pregnant person in making a decision that best suits them.
